Construction Camp Sewage Treatment Plant (STP). Saudi Aramco – process engineer. This project was to design a brand new and temporary STP for 19,000 population construction camps with Membrane Bioreactor (MBR) technology. Tasks included preparing design basis, PFDs and P&IDs, redundancy requirement and RFQ documents, sizing treatment units such as screens, grit removal, MBR system, sludge thickener / digester /dewatering centrifuge. Tasks also includes sludge production prediction calculation and process control narrative (PCN) and supplier proposal review.
Sanitary Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) and Pumping Stations. Saudi Aramco – process engineer. This project was to design a brand new sanitary sewer system to include five (5) lift stations with one MBR STP. Tasks included preparing design basis, PFDs and P&IDs, redundancy requirement and RFQ documents, sizing treatment units such as screens, grit removal, MBR system, sludge thickener / digester /sludge drying beds. Tasks also includes sludge production prediction calculation and process control narrative (PCN) and supplier proposal review.
Suncor Polymer Hydration Packaged Plant (design capacity is 1,500 m3/h or 6,600gpm). Suncor Energy, Alberta – Process Engineer. This project was to design and build a 1,500 m3/h Polymer Hydration Packaged Plant to facilitate tailings pond volume reduction. Tasks included preparing PFDs, P&IDs, LDTs, Process Control Narrative (PCN), alarm set points, alarm management list, process startup /shutdown sequences, cause & effect diagram and equipment datasheets, performing hydraulic calculations, sizing equipment such as blowers, air compressor system, pumps and valves.
Carmon Creek Field Facilities Project EDS and Detailed Design. Shell Canada Ltd., Alberta – Process Engineer. Tasks on this project were to design firewater system, potable water system and natural gas pressure reduction system including developing PFDs and P&IDs, sizing equipment, preparing equipment and instrumentation datasheets, reviewing Vendor package, participating HAZOP and supporting all other disciplines.
Hangingstone SAGD Project EDS and Detailed Design. Athabasca Oil Sands Corp. Alberta. This project was to design a CPF system with capacity of 12,000 BPCD at phase one. Tasks focused on the de-oiling and water treatment areas including developing PFDs and P&IDs, sizing equipment, preparing equipment and instrumentation datasheets, reviewing Vendor package, participating HAZOP and supporting all other disciplines.
The Northwest Redwater (NWR) Utilities and Offsite (U&O) facilities WWTP. North West Redwater (NWR) Partnership, Alberta. This project included API separator, Dissolved Nitrogen Floatation (DNF), oil removal filter (ORF), Membrane Bioreactor (MBR) and associated chemical dosing systems. Tasks were to review P&IDs, prepare process operation narratives and process performance specifications.
North West Upgrader U&O DBM Update. North West Redwater (NWR) Partnership. Alberta. This project was to update DBM to incorporate the latest changes in design basis. Tasks included preparing PFDs and sizing collection drums and associated pumps for Drainage systems, the tasks also included sizing the KO drums and associated pumps for the hydrocarbon flare system.
Statoil Corner SAGD Project Cold Eye Review. Statoil. Alberta. This was a steam-assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) facility at detailed design stage. Tasks included reviewing PFDs, P&IDs and H&M balance for whole project with focus on the process water treatment. Comments were reviewed with the design team and incorporated into the design.
Suncor Tailings Water Treatment Plant (TWTP) Scope Study (design capacity is 5,000 gpm or 7.2 MGD). Suncor Energy, Alberta. This project was to design a dedicated WWTP to treat the Tailings Pond water to meet the provincial Surface discharge requirement and Suncor water reuse criteria. The treatment process consists of coagulation, flocculation, Dissolved Air Floatation (DAF), Ultrafiltration (UF), Reverse Osmosis (RO), Evaporator and Crystallizer. Tasks included selecting design raw water and effluent quality criteria, defining treatment process, preparing PFDs and mass balance, describing the process operation, conducting preliminary equipment sizing and selecting equipment redundancy philosophy. My role on the project was to lead the process team, schedule study activities, assign tasks to the team, supervise intermediate/junior engineers, monitor deliverables progress and budget, organize the review meetings with client, conduct QA/QC checking on process deliverables and support other disciplines.
Suncor Pond B/C Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) Detailed Design (design capacity is 11,500 gpm or 16.6 MGD). Suncor Energy, Alberta. This project was to design a dedicated WWTP to treat the wastewater discharged from Suncor oil upgrading process using coagulation/flocculation/DAF process and the whole system also included a new cooling tower and multiple tie-in to the existing water system. Tasks included validating all EDS turn-over documents, performing hydraulic calculations, confirming equipment sizing and selections, updating PFDs, P&IDs and control philosophy, providing process input to other disciplines, preparing line list, equipment datasheets, instrumentation datasheets, conducting vendor package review and participating Squad Check. My role on the project was to lead the process team, schedule study activities, assign tasks to the team, supervise intermediate/junior engineers, monitor deliverables progress and budget, organize the review meetings with client, conduct QA/QC checking on process deliverables and support other disciplines.
